In was a cool spring day, and two Shinlai stood in the middle of a forest on large the other a small pup. Running around sniffing the pup turned to his father saying pleadingly "Please father may we stop for now? We have been out most of the morning, and I have had not luck catching anything!" he looked at him with puppy like eyes for effect. Even though he knew it would most likely not work. "Or maybe we could do something different like look for mushrooms?" he chirped back at him.

Lycu stretched his neck up, before swinging his head down and around to look at his son. He smiled at the small black and purple pup. “Maybe we’ll look for the mushrooms later.” He said with a smile. “For now, listen,” He said crouching next to his son. “Listen to the forest.” He said quietly. “Sound is the key to catching your prey, smell might tell you it’s there, but sound will help pinpoint it.” He said. He looked at Zeke before giving his head a light jerk towards the base of a tree. He could hear the sound of rabbits there.

Zeke looked at his Father as he spoke up listening intently "Alright, and maybe if I catch some meat we could eat them with it." As his Father said he sat still trying to not even move so he could he the sounds of the forest. Peeking towards his father he saw him slightly jerk his head to the base of a tree. "Oh! I hear them now should I charge them, or sneak up quietly?" he said twitching with excitement.

Lycu grinned at his eager child. “Step softly until your close enough to chase.” He said quietly. “Watch where you walk as well, a dry twig could give you away.” He added. He straightened up, looking down at Zeke with a smile. “And whatever you do, don’t let them reach the burrow. Or else you’ll lose them.” He said as an afterthought.

"Okay" he whispered toward his father. Then he proceeded taking each step with precaution as to not step on a twig. 5 feet away he sat still, and looked back towards his father for a split second then pounced at the group of them. At least 6 of them ran towards the burrow, but one broke away going another direction this one Zeke took after, and gaining speed he lunged for it's head crushing it's skull. Then sitting in down he looked back at his Father with a cheesy grin shouting "I DID IT!" then he picked the rabbit up bounding towards him.

Lycu watched as rabbits darted about before one was tackled and killed swiftly. “Impressive.” Lycu said sitting down with a broad grin. He held out a paw to his son and took a look at the rabbit. It easily had enough meat to feed Zeke, but would be no more than a snack to himself. “Let’s hang this little guy over a branch while we find some mushrooms.” He said, reaching up and draping the small body over a branch, so no small critters could eat it. “Right, where shall we start?"

"I am glad you think so Father! I always want to please you!" he said as Lycu took the rabbit. "Well for the mushrooms I guess we should start looking in moist places or around the trunks of trees right?" he said thinking if this was right. "Also what will you eat father?"

Lycu gave a rumbly chuckle, thinking. 'You don't need to please me.'
"Dark damp places would be perfect." Lycu agreed. "See if you can find any in this clearing, if need be we'll look else where." He said, glancing around the clearing. "And I'll find something to eat later." He added smiling at Zeke.

"Dark, damp places... Hmm I think farther down the creek maybe was a small cave! But i'll root around here for a bit first" then he started off looking intently at the ground and in moist places. Stopping he lifted his head and looked at Lycu "Maybe while I look you could find food for you now instead of later?" then he went back to looking.


"AH. I found one, and it smells safe, so I guess it's good right?" he said as he went for a small lick.
